Ok so the first experiment failed. On the 12th of October I planted an Avocado pit in dirt, it germinated but failed to produce a root base, hence it withered and died. Today we happen to have two ripe yummy Avocados in the house. I'm going to try the modern method of placing the lower portion of the pit in water until the root appears. Wish me luck!
Day 1 - November 2nd 2011

No tooth-picks, the container is the perfect size. |

The lower portion is submerged in water.
UPDATE: 12-21-2011 - DAY 50
Took a while but the roots are growing well another two weeks and the pit should completely split and sprout.
UPDATE: 4/6/12 - 156 DAYS LATER
